Troo MoMOM: Missouri's Free Dental Clinic
We're thrilled to have participated for a 7th straight year in Missouri's Mission of Mercy free dental clinic weekend at the beginning of August in Kirksville, MO.
The first MoMOM event was held in Springfield, MO after the devastating Joplin tornado. Participating in the event was uplifting and heartwarming. Even being in the dental field, the true need for dental care in our country was shocking! Those receiving care were relieved of chronic pain and found their smiles again--some for the first time in decades!
It was obvious to Drs. Pat & Jan that such a large scale event could not be just a one time thing. This type of event was truly needed everywhere and on a regular basis. But, bringing such a large scale event back required far more planning and hoops to jump through than one would imagine! Dr. Janet Ruopp worked deligently with the Mission of Mercy organization to create an annual event in our state. The second annual MoMOM was held right here in Cape Girardeau, MO after countless hours meeting, organizing, fundraising, and, at times, pleading with Mission of Mercy organizers and contributors to see that a smaller, more rural area still had need of a large scale free dental clinic.
Since then, the Ruopp Family Dentistry team has participated in not only providing care, but also chairing events in St. Louis, Columbia, and Independence, Missouri. MoMOM events consistently provide an average of over $1,000,000 in free dental care over two very busy days which start in the wee hours and last well into the evening. We appreciate you allowing us to give back to our local and state communities by chooses our office for dental services and giving us a few days out of the office to travel to these amazing events!
